Firefighting robot with Christie+Matilda suspension, 40 L/s water monitor, 65 m range, 4-channel HD+thermal imaging, and multi-gas sensing for extreme-hazard fire and rescue operations.
The Firefighting Robot employs a Christie + Matilda four-wheel bogie balanced suspension, enabling it to replace firefighters in entering flammable, explosive, toxic, oxygen-deficient, and smoke-filled disaster scenes. Equipped with a large-flow fire water monitor and multi-sensor systems, it provides all-weather environmental perception for firefighting and emergency response operations.
Firefighting in industrial environments — particularly in petrochemical facilities, chemical plants, and mine sites — poses extreme risks to human firefighters. Explosions, toxic gas exposure, structural collapse, and flashover are ever-present threats that can claim lives in seconds. The Firefighting Robot is designed to enter these extreme-hazard zones ahead of or in place of human responders, delivering firefighting capability without risking personnel.
The robot's mobility platform uses a Christie + Matilda four-wheel bogie balanced suspension system with 6 reinforced shock absorbers. This tracked-vehicle-inspired suspension configuration enables the robot to traverse uneven, debris-strewn, and partially collapsed terrain that would immobilize conventional wheeled platforms. The suspension maintains ground contact across all wheels even on highly irregular surfaces, ensuring traction and stability in environments where conventional firefighting vehicles cannot operate.
The primary firefighting system is a large-flow fire water monitor rated at 40 L/s, with a maximum range of 65 meters. The monitor supports rapid switching between water and foam — essential for addressing both Class A (ordinary combustible) and Class B (flammable liquid) fires — and features electric pitch adjustment and 360° rotation, enabling the robot to direct firefighting agent precisely at the fire source from any orientation. The monitor's 65-meter range allows the robot to maintain a safe standoff distance from intense heat sources while still delivering effective fire suppression.
All-weather environmental perception is achieved through a 4-channel high-definition image acquisition system combining visible-light and infrared thermal imaging. Video is wirelessly transmitted to the rear control center, giving operators real-time visual and thermal awareness of the disaster scene without requiring line-of-sight proximity. A multi-parameter sensor module provides real-time monitoring of flammable gas concentration, ambient temperature, and humidity — data that is critical for assessing explosion risk and determining safe approach vectors for subsequent human responder entry.
Multiple safety and self-protection features ensure the robot's survivability in extreme environments. Audible-visual alarms provide warning to any personnel in the robot's vicinity. A water-spray cooling system protects the robot from thermal damage during close-proximity firefighting. The anti-rollover chassis design and collision-avoidance sensors prevent platform damage during autonomous or remote-controlled maneuvering. For low-light environments — common in smoke-filled or nighttime fire scenes — the robot is equipped with a dual LED high-intensity lighting system (50 W each) providing effective illumination to 100 meters.
