Unique attendance system for mine shaft entrances with iris/face biometric verification and UWB technology. Prevents tag fraud and ensures accurate personnel accounting.
The Shaft Entrance Unique Attendance System integrates iris and face biometric recognition, radio frequency identification, and computer technologies into a comprehensive mine personnel entry-and-exit attendance management solution. Its core function is to prevent personnel from entering or exiting the shaft without a tag, carrying a faulty tag, carrying the wrong tag, or carrying multiple tags — thereby ensuring the completeness, authenticity, and accuracy of attendance data.
In underground mining operations, accurate personnel accounting at shaft entrances is a matter of life safety. Traditional attendance systems that rely solely on RFID tags are vulnerable to abuse: workers may forget tags, swap tags with colleagues, or carry multiple tags, leading to inaccurate headcounts that can have fatal consequences during emergencies. The Shaft Entrance Unique Attendance System solves this problem through a dual-factor verification mechanism that binds each personnel location tag to the individual's biometric data (face or iris), ensuring that the tag and the person are an inseparable matched pair.
The system employs a dual-attendance architecture: the shaft entrance system performs the primary attendance check, while an interface to the underground positioning system provides a secondary verification layer. This dual-check approach ensures data accuracy at every stage of personnel movement. When anomalies are detected — such as no tag, faulty tag, wrong tag, or multiple tags — the system triggers multi-channel alerts simultaneously through audible-visual alarms, management platform pop-ups, and SMS notifications, enabling immediate corrective action by supervisors.
Built on ultra-wideband (UWB) technology operating at 3.244–4.244 GHz, the system achieves recognition within 1 second after face identification is completed. The platform is designed for extensibility, supporting optional integration of alcohol detection, body temperature screening, and safety helmet compliance checks — transforming the shaft entrance into a comprehensive pre-entry safety checkpoint. The sound-level intensity of the alarm system meets or exceeds 75 dB(A), ensuring that alerts are clearly audible even in the noisy environment typical of shaft entrance areas.
The system operates on 220 V AC power (±22 V tolerance) with a working current of no more than 1,600 mA, making it compatible with standard mine power infrastructure. By eliminating the loopholes of tag-only attendance systems, this solution provides mine managers with trustworthy, real-time data on exactly who is underground at any given moment — information that is critical for daily production scheduling, safety compliance reporting, and emergency evacuation planning.
