Intrinsically safe pan-tilt camera system for coal faces and drill sites with remote PTZ control, audio intercom and voice broadcast over wired or wireless networks.
The Coal Face & Drill Site Visual Supervision System extends reliable video monitoring to fully mechanized faces and heading faces, where large-scale deployment has traditionally been difficult. Intrinsically safe pan-tilt cameras monitor roadheaders, drilling rigs and related equipment, while surface operators control camera movement and use audio functions for intercom and broadcast.
Video monitoring is widely used in underground mines, but large-scale deployment on fully mechanized faces and heading faces remains challenging because of the harsh environment, explosion risk and camera installation constraints. The Coal Face & Drill Site Visual Supervision System addresses this with intrinsically safe pan-tilt cameras that can be installed at suitable positions to monitor the operating locations and working conditions of roadheaders, drilling rigs and related equipment.
Because the cameras support pan, tilt and zoom movement, surface operators can remotely direct them toward the point of interest — following a roadheader as it advances, checking the drill rig between setups, or inspecting a specific area of the face. This remote camera control is paired with audio/video intercom and voice broadcast functions, allowing the surface to communicate directly with personnel at the face or broadcast instructions across the work area.
Images captured by the cameras can be transmitted to the surface by wired or wireless methods for real-time monitoring and storage. The combination of remote PTZ control, two-way audio and flexible transmission gives mine management continuous visual supervision of the face and drill sites without placing personnel in the hazardous area simply to observe operations.
